Thanks to Piya Singh for this week’s photo prompt.

As they strolled along the path, with the tinkling of the water flowing over the rocks whilst breathing in the fresh fragrances of the valley, Jane felt an overwhelming sense of well-being and happiness.

They reached an incline in the river and watched awestruck as the salmon leapt upstream to spawn.Β  They held hands, contented with the lack of conversation as they marvelled at the spectacle of nature.

She wished she could freeze this moment so that she could return to it whenever she chose.

Seldom in life, does one feel pure joy, but this was one of those occasions.

Thank you Mike. If people could only be content with what they have and let others live their lives how they choose, it would definitely be a better place. Appreciating the simple things life has to offer can bring great happiness and contentment.

This photo prompt has (for reasons I can’t explain) inspired a number of dark stories. It’s so refreshing to read yours. I feel cleansed and tranquil again. Thank you for that. πŸ™‚

I think she’s found her “happy place.” If she can freeze frame it mentally, she can return to it again and again, although it’s not quite the same as being there. A refreshing story, Clare.
