PHOTO PROMPT © Roger Bultot
He sat with his head in his hands marvelling at his own stupidity.
He’d allowed his ego to out-manoeuvre his common sense. His inability to listen to his head had cost him dearly.
His so-called friends had egged him on and he hadn’t wanted to lose face.
It’d only taken two days for her to find out.
The pain in her eyes was the worst thing about it.
She’d asked why; he had no explanation.
He’d said sorry, but could hear how lame it sounded.
She’d packed her things and left.
There would be no more flowers in the window.

The flowers in the window were a signal? I think he’ll crumble. The flowers will be back

The lyrics of the song are about a bloke who thought he’d be alone forever, but then he met a girl and settled down and they had flowers in the window. My story is how he messes up and throws it all away. I don’t think she will forgive him!

Perhaps he doesn’t deserve to be forgiven. Hope she finds happiness.

Oh oh oh! Yours almost seems to be a sequel to Rudberg’s. The other side of the coin, so to speak!

I once knew a man who bought flowers for his window. It always seemed like such a strange, and yet sensitive thing to do. Yet it’s an action commonly attributed to women with no such surprise. Good one, I liked this.

I think we can guess what he did 😦
Maybe he can buy his own flowers from now on. Not the same, I guess.
I love the phrasing of his “ego out-manoeuvring” his common sense 🙂

Thank you very much. I don’t think she will be putting flowers in his window again! Silly boy!

How sad it is when we listen to our friends and not our heart. You really brought that out in your story.

Thanks Alicia. I suppose we all do things we regret at some time during our lives.

Dear Clare,
Ah that male ego really cost him. Nicely done.

They were no friends of his I gather. He will know better next time, hopefully there will be a next time.

I agree with Michael: these were not real friends; and again, he is the one who did the wrong. He deserves no more flowers…

He was very foolish, but maybe he will learn from it. Thanks for reading.

For the worst of reason… men are stupid especially in group… I wonder if there will be someone giving him a second chance.

I think he’s blown it, but maybe he will be more sensible next time!
